Bridget Bolliger is an acclaimed Australian-Swiss flautist whose captivating performances and innovative contributions to classical music have garnered international recognition. With a Master’s degree in Solo Performance from the Basel Music Academy under the tutelage of the legendary Peter-Lukas Graf, Bridget has cultivated a distinguished career spanning over three decades.
As a freelance artist and recording artist, she excels as a soloist and chamber musician. Bridget has held principal flute positions with the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra and the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra while also serving as guest principal with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Philharmonia and the Basel Symphony Orchestra. Her dynamic solo performances began early in her career; she performed Ibert's Flute Concerto at just 15 with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and later served as principal flute with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the esteemed Claudio Abbado.
Bridget is the founder and Artistic Director of the New Sydney Wind Quintet, which has produced internationally acclaimed recordings, particularly their album "QUINTOPIA." The ensemble tours extensively throughout Australia and has performed in China, advocating for Australian music while mastering all standard repertoire. The quintet has participated in numerous tours for Musica Viva and has been a significant presence at the Huntington Music Festival.
Bridget is the founder and Artistic Director of the Sydney Chamber Music Festival, where she has commissioned numerous significant Australian compositions, including works by the renowned Ross Edwards. Her leadership has enriched the festival and the cultural landscape of Australia’s contemporary music scene.
Her performances throughout Switzerland and collaborations internationally as a chamber musician and soloist have further solidified her reputation, having emerged victorious in several Swiss national competitions characterised by fierce competition.
Her discography includes critically acclaimed recordings such as “Timeless," "Dancing Shadows," and her recent release, "Pearls," showcasing works for flute and guitar.
As an educator, Bridget teaches on the international platform Play With a Pro and has conducted masterclasses at prestigious institutions, including the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian National University (ANU), the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), and the Curitiba Music Festival in Brazil.
She has performed at significant festivals such as the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and the Huntington Music Festival, collaborating with renowned musicians, including British pianist Andrew West and French harpist Marielle Nordmann. Through her extensive performances and recordings across Europe, Australia, and the Americas, Bridget Bolliger continues to inspire and contribute to the global classical music landscape.
