All are welcome to Sensory Concerts® 🎹
Sensory Concerts®, created by concert pianist and mother Grace Kim, brings high-quality classical music to everyone, free from social judgment. Established in 2017, these concerts are tailored for neurodivergent families and communities, including those with Autism, ADHD, and other sensory or additional needs.
The upcoming performance features timeless works like Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod, the graceful Barcarolle from Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach, and Lascia ch’io pianga from Handel’s Rinaldo. Audience favorites from the world of opera and musical theatre include Voi che sapete from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and the joyful Do-Re-Mi from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Sound of Music.
Designed to soothe the senses, these concerts offer sensory-friendly musical elements, flexible seating, retreat spaces, movement freedom, and onsite therapist support. Every aspect, from crowd size to lighting, is considered to create a safe and welcoming space for families to enjoy live music together.
Attendees can enjoy “Opera House” quality performances up close at the Manly Art Gallery and Museum. The concerts are intended for both newcomers and experienced audience members. This exceptional program is led by creative director Grace Kim, along with cellist Teije Hylkema (Principal Cello, Opera Australia Orchestra) and soprano Anna Fraser (performer with Pinchgut Opera and Sydney Chamber Opera).
